P5: Record the different sound elements
This here is my BTS of creating all the sounds elements used within the piece. This is video evidence of my directing and recording all the sounds used in my piece, as well as me using all the equipment and software making sure its all okay for post-production. Below in the video, there is also a part where you see me directing my voiceover artist, telling her what I want in regards to how upbeat I want her to say the lines. Below I have also added all the RAW sound elements so they are ready for post-production.

00:00 - 00:19 - Charlotte creating the sound elements of the seagulls.
00:20 - 00:51 - My voiceover artist Chessie doing the first take on the lines.
00:52 - 01:06 - Chessie my voiceover artist doing it for a second take under my directing (Me explains what I wanted exactly)
01:07 - 01:32 - Charlotte playing the drums under my direction, and me directing her but also using the sound equipment as well as the software (Logic Pro)
The voiceover artist did a really good job when recording, I didn't give a lot of feedback as it was what I was looking for (Something upbeat, friendly and inviting)
In the start of the video, we have Charlotte in the sound booth, doing a seagulls sounds, this point we all had a go at recording on the software (Logic Pro) and making sure the sound elements were good and were not peaking. The reason why I decided to do a seagull sound was because when the Romans invaded, they invaded on the beach, and when you think of the beach in Britain you instantly connect the sound of seagulls to it, so that's why I used seagull sounds. The second two clips you can hear me direct my voiceover artist making sure she does it the way I want it and the way the client wants it, (which is an inviting and upbeat voice). The last clip in the video you can see Charlotte and Chessie creating sounds on the drums for the sound elements and me directing them whilst recording it on logic. I decided I wanted a slow rising drum beat as it has connotations to war, so this is why I directed them to do it like this.

Here are all my audio files that haven't been enhanced and are all RAW cuts, as I will be enhancing the sound later on in post-production. The first RAW sounds are of the drums used in my piece, the second and third RAW sound elements are just the sound effects I created to be used within my piece. And the second to last RAW sound is their voiceover, I haven't changed anything to this and it is RAW, the last sound recording is the music I will be using in my piece (Royalty free). The reason why I am using the drums and sound effects or an army etc. I did it to create an atmosphere for the audience and make it something that builds tension and so they can really visualise what would have actually happened. The chosen piece of music is for the voiceover towards the ends, I decided to use this music at the end as it is upbeat and fun, which is something the client wants within the promotional content.
P6: Carry out post production edits to the sound elements
I used Audacity to edit the sound elements together, in the video you can see me: Putting the tracks into Audacity, trimming and cutting them as well as me exporting it and renaming the clips used in the piece.

Audience feedback report: What could be changed to improve my product? and how am I going to do it?
From all the feedback I gathered it allowed me to change my piece to what was most demanded by my focus group. That being a change in some of the audio levels and fades in and out of the sound effects/music.
Sound levels: One of the main feedback I gathered was on the sound levels of my piece, that being it was either too loud or too quiet at some points within the piece. Both Chessie and Oscar agreed on that the volume level needed to be changed because at some points it either peaked or was too quiet to hear (That being some of the sound effects and/or music I used in the piece). However, this can all be changed in Audacity it is just a matter of changing some of the components to a higher or lower level. When in Audacity all I need to do to change the levels are either turn it up on the left-hand side of the sound clips or go into 'Effects' along the toolbar and change the tempo, pitch and speed etc. However I need to be careful just raising the levels as this can sometimes make the sound elements or audio, sound distorted or make them gain a hiss, so its best to change any levels in the 'Effects' as this means I can then change the pitch and tempo of that sound element without having any distorted background noises.
To be 100% sure that the levels sound ok, and that it comes together well. I will get the last opinion from people who haven't heard it, so it will be completely brand new to them.

Above you can see me changing some of the levels within Audacity, making sure that I follow the audience feedback I changed the piece so it matches what the audience wanted.
D1: Evaluate how the technical and auditory qualities meet the identified purpose
Here is my final product of the Promotional Radio Advertisement for Pegwell Bay Museum, I made sure I followed all the audience feedback making sure the promo was right and how the audience wanted it to sound.
How my audience feedback allowed me to change the sounds/volume:
When I went over my finished product I decided I would keep the voiceover at the same level, as my target audience told me they like the volume of it, and it didn't need to be changed. However what I did change was the end, I decided to fade it out instead having it just a cut off, this I another change my target audience agreed on. By doing this I feel it made my final piece sound more professional and made the overall creation sound better. My main focus was getting the voiceover correct and making it sound smooth without too much background noise, I feel like I achieved this as my target audience all agreed it sounded good.
Sound effects used:
When re-editing my promo I went back and listened to all the sound effects I already had, and then referred back to my audience feedback where they gave me some ideas I could approve upon; That being which sound effects I could change/add. My audience feedback told me I should change the levels of the rain, they thought it sounded too loud and sometimes it was distracting to the other aspects that where being played. This sound effect was done on the drums we used a metal wire and dragged it along the drums to create a sound effect of rain, we did this close to the microphone, so I did need to turn it up in post-production so you could hear it louder however it is obviously too loud, so I turned it down in post after my target audience gave me their feedback.
Another sound effect I added was the effect of the people shouting, in my audience feedback one piece of feedback I got was the sound effect of people shouting was a little to quiet in comparison to to the other sound effects used in the background of the advertisement. I decide this need to be changed as I felt also it was a little too quiet, so I went back into Audacity to change these levels, and once I had change the levels to the right volume which I thought the audience would like, I listened to the whole piece again throughout to make sure it was definitely okay and the sound effects of people shouting weren't too loud.
Length of advertisement and the end of it:
The audience feedback I gained from the length of it, was that the felt it suddenly cut off and they would rather have it fade away (The music). So to ensure I followed my audience feedback, I went into Audacity and Faded out the music for a couple more seconds instead of cutting it suddenly and leaving the audience confused. Luckily by fading it out a bit more, it didn't make the advertisement too long. As the client brief stated they wanted a 1 minute advertisement, and by fading it like this it made it exactly 1minute and 1 seconds long, so when the client comes to distribute it, it wont cost them any more money to air the advertisement, and the file size wont be any bigger than before.

Music added:
In my audience feedback one of the audiences members suggested I should add some more music throughout, however I felt this wouldn't match the first half of the advertisement and would be unnecessary, and especially as this isn't something my client is looking for, they state they want "dramatic music" which I have already; which is my slow rising drum beat. My audience member was trying to suggest having upbeat music throughout, which I feel wouldn't work at all.
How the final product is fit for purpose:
My final product is fit for purpose as it is 1 minute long this is what the client asked for in the client brief. I also think its fit for purpose as it follows all the codes and conventions of a radio advertisement. As well as it is the correct time I also shared the final advertisement on Soundcloud and YouTube, this is where the client asked for it to be. In the client brief, they say they want an advertisement that entices people to come to visit the new museum, they wanted this done through sound effects, voiceover, and music all of which I have correctly used in my advertisement. They wanted a fun and exciting advert done primarily through the sound effects used, this was meant to be done through the sound of swords the battle scene etc, and I feel I have met these criteria as it sounds effective and would excite people about the new museum. I think the promo definitely grabs the listeners attention straight away with the slow drum beat uprising and I think this was done well as it makes sure the listener is enticed and listens to it all. The voiceover I used at the end of the promo has an underlay of upbeat music, both the voiceover and music are both upbeat which helps make people feel excited about the new museum. I also feel the voiceover makes people want to find out more about the museum as the voiceover and script leave you wanting to see these amazing artefacts.
Technical Quality:
I think the technical quality of the overall product is very high, and because if this I think it makes the promo sound professional and it follows the clients brief by having it at a good quality. To make sure this was at the best quality I shared it as a certain file type, this was a WAV file, which is best for the client because they wanted it as best quality sound with little compression and a low file size, the WAV file does all of these. When exporting the track I also did it in 32. Bit which is very high quality but still small file type, it also means it won't be compressed at all, I also chose to share it in stereo rather than mono this is because it will help with the overall sound being more professional as well as allowing the promo to be heard through both speakers rather than just one (MONO) having it as stereo allows the client and the listeners to hear through both speakers or both headphones.

The way the product is fit for the audience:
My final product is fit for purpose, this is because I have shown the promo to a target audience and gained positive feedback as well as setting up a survey which again I gained positive feedback from. The positive feedback allowed me to understand this product is definitely suited for the target audience, this is because it follows conventions of a radio promo and is well suited for all ages of a target audience as there are certain sound elements throughout that attract all audience members. By attracting a wider audience not only does this bring in a larger demand for the museum but it also means it is fit for the audience.
