Produce a proposal for the original media product to meet the clients brief
Pro Mo Vid Will Unit 3 by will on Scribd
i) I have chosen this content because tourists never really seem to buy the information booklets, so the best way to show them what to do and see in Cambridge is by a promotional video, and this video fits perfectly for both young and old demographics and will encourage them to come to Cambridge.
ii) The best way to market this product will be through social media such as Facebook and Twitter, but also high populated places such as city but also trains stations and airports is where this promotional video could be shown as there will be many tourists and can be advertised too as many people as possible.
iii) The promotional video will be beneficial to the Cambridge council for advertising to tourists. This could be uploaded to the Cambridge website for promotion of the city. Also places like airports and train stations because there will be a a lot of tourists there and they will likely be attracted to the city.
explain two ways your product could be marketed to audience in the digital age. Use examples.
One way my promotional video could be marketed in the digital age us by social media for example Facebook and twitter. As my product is a promotional video it fits perfectly in marketing for the digital age as the video cab be posted anywhere and shared instantly by people on Facebook. Facebook and Twitter is perfect as so many people have social media this make its easier for the promotional video to go viral.
Another way my product could be marketed in the digital age is by Youtube. Youtube is perfect platform to put high resolution videos on for free, youtube is so big a video could go viral at any point, however a way to market it to an audience is to give a teaser of what the product will be, this means it will keep the audience intrigued and wanting to see more. You could put a teaser on both Youtube and Facebook.
Web 2.0 is another way the promotional video could be marketed, for example it could be put on other websites as a pop up advert. Web 2.0 allows pop up adverts on many website some of which are the mainstream websites such as Facebook, Youtube and Twitter this then will be a lot easier to market the product as we can target a specific audience as we know what they search for and what they like to do etc.
2. Identify 3 Channels of distribution for your product. That are considered successful in the digital age in terms of your product reaching its audience.
One channel of distribution would be Netflix, Netflix is very popular platform for distributing new films, Tv shows and documentary. Netflix is very successful as it has a very high viewership, but also it means people don’t have to leave their houses.
Youtube Would be another successful channel for distributing as it is widely used all around d the world ( High viewership ) but also its free to upload high quality content which is perfect. Youtube offer on their website a ‘Recently added’ which is perfect as people can see new content such as the promotional video.
Sky would be another way of distributing the product as sky offer online tv serious as well as there own programs, this is also good as it means people don’t have to leave their houses, Sky also offer ‘Sky go’ which allows you to watch sky on your phone or tablet.

This Sample material will help sell my Promotional video to the client as it gives the a good understanding of the visual ideas I have, It also shows them what sort of sound effects I will want and also what type of shots I will be taking, as well as the type of filming I will be doing ( For example time lapse ) It also gives them a good understanding of how long this will take as it shows them how hard some of the shots may be to take. This will also help sell the promotional video because it shows a clear outline of exactly what ill be doing, so they know exactly what the money will be going towards.
Cambridge - The Place to Be 2 by will on Scribd
Justify content, distribution and marketing methods identified for the planned production to meet a client brief
Explain what you know about you client
My client is the Cambridge city council, this is the council who I am making my promotional video for. I also know that if I'm filming a promotional video they will want it to be at its highest standards and as professional as possible as they will be wanting to use the video to show tourist or just people visiting cambridge from other parts of England, they will also be wanting to distribute the promotional video to show people what Cambridge is really like, so it will need to be at a high standard. I also know that the client will want me to put Cambridge in a good light meaning I couldn't have any negative videos clips about Cambridge in my promotional video as they are wanting to distribute it and they are wanting tourists to see Cambridge in a positive way. The client will also want the video to be fun and engaging to tourists so people wont lose interest in the video, they will also want it to be aesthetically pleasing so Cambridge is seen to be a beautiful city and more tourists will want to come.
Explain in detail how your content will be relevant to your client
My content is relevant as in the promotional video it shows the building and amazing landmarks in Cambridge by showing these beautiful buildings to the audience, the audience will make a positive connection to Cambridge which the client wants as they want Cambridge to be seen as a beautiful city not a horrible one. By using music in the promotional video it creates a nice tone behind the product which creates a positive feeling towards Cambridge and thats what the client wants, when someone has a positive feeling towards something they want to do it or in this case want to go to the place so this would be relevant to the client. My content will also be relevant to the clients as I am showing the atmosphere of cambridge, for example I show what the town is like such as the market square and kings parade, by showing this to the audience it sets a good feeling to them as the people in the background look happy and not at all threatening to the audience, this would be relevant to the client as they want a nice atmosphere to Cambridge with people who look friendly and that the city doesn't have a negative feeling about it.
Explain in detail how realistic and feasible your content will be to make.
I think creating a promotional video is realistic and very feasible, because to film the actual promotional video I would only need up to three people to help me, for example someone to do the sound another person to film and a director for the video and because there are only three of us and because they are friends of mine I wont need to pay them which saves money as this is a low budget production, So I think it is very feasible and realistic to make. To create the product is even more feasible as all I would need is an editing suite to edit the clips together and a microphone to do the voiceover, all of this I can easily access as we can use the editing suite in my college, and because this is a low budget promotional video this also saves money as I don't need to rent a editing suite. The whole product will be feasible as I will get permissions to film as well as having health and safety forms signed by each production member this makes it easy when in the production as it shortens production time and I don't have to worry about going over time.
Explain what realistic and feasible methods (both digital and physical) your client could use to distribute and market your product.
The most realistic and feasible method of distributing the product would be putting the video on to a platform such as Youtube or Vimeo as the whole world has access to these platforms meaning anyone can watch these videos which means it will get more views for the client so more people will Know about Cambridge, youtube and Vimeo are both free platforms to put content on which means the client wouldn't have to pay anything to distribute the product. Another way the product could be distributed would be by giving the client a DVD or a memory stick with the content on this would make it a lot easier for the client if they do not have a Youtube account or Vimeo account, as all they would need to do is to plug the memory stick in or DVD in and press play. A way to market the Promotional video would be to play it on TV s around Cambridge, for example in a lot banks in Cambridge they have TV's which they could play the video on so more people could see the content, also distributing it through tv stations such as Cambridge Tv or bigger Tv stations means more people will see it and say I want to go there, which is what the client wants.

Do you have all the skills necessary to carry out this task professionally?
I think personally I can carry out this task professionally although I haven't had a lot of experience within this area, I believe I am good wth time management as well as organising everything and everyone together so I feel I could carry it out professionally. I think I have good understanding of how yo use editing software; the editing software I will be using is Final cut pro, and I think I know the basics of it, however carrying it out professionally I don't think I can as I'm still learning final cut pro and I only know the basics of it so editing it together now professionally I couldn't as I am still a student and still learning but over time hopefully my editing will become more professional. To improve I will be practicing my editing techniques and getting tips from my teacher to make sure the editing is done as professionally as possible.
Do you know what will be expected of you?
What will be expected of me is to perform at a professional standard meaning my time management as well as my organisation must by professional so to do this I must give them a production schedule to show them what I'm doing and when I'm dong it. They also want me to portray Cambridge in a positive way and make the video as professional as possible.
Do you know how to make the content you have proposed?
I know how to film the shots I need and editing the content together, I have also looked at promotional videos to get inspiration for my product and I have an idea of where the shots will be filmed which will help me make the content. I also know how a promotional should look and I think personally this will help me create a product which is accurate and what the client wants.
